Celebrating the BalletBoyz
BalletBoyz are giving their fans the chance to attend an entertaining one-off gala evening of dance and music on 22 June in order to celebrate the opening of the company’s new studio base. The new home for the dancers will feature two fully equipped dance studios, rehearsal and office space and film editing facilities, and will provide a fully interactive space for all.
The gala will celebrate the twelve years since BalletBoyz was co-founded by Artistic Directors Michael Nunn and William Trevitt, and will even see the return of Nunn and Trevitt to the stage, performing an extract from the first piece they danced as BalletBoyz in 2001 as Critical Mass by Russell Maliphant. The 2013 gala will be the first time the pair has performed together in public since 2009.
The evening will also feature excerpts of works commissioned over the years from choreographers including Russell Maliphant, Christopher Wheeldon, Liv Lorent, Paul Roberts, and Liam Scarlett, with the BalletBoyz’ all-male company, the Talent, performing some favourite pieces. The UK tour of the Talent 2013 was a sell-out and critically acclaimed, and the gala hopes to live up to this incredible reputation with an exciting programme with lots of variety. The audience will also receive a trip down memory lane in showing some of the BalletBoyz’ film clips which will tell the story of the company and give some sneak peeks behind the scenes.
