Anton and Erin Go To Hollywood

Stacey MacNaught |

Over the last few months something magical has been taking place from Northampton to Llandudno. In Belfast and in Canterbury, audiences everywhere have been stepping out of the cold to be transported to the glitter and glamour of Beverley Hills. It's lights, camera, action! Anton and Erin are on tour once again and they are filling theatres throughout the country.

This is the fifth tour that the longest serving Strictly stars, Anton Du Beke and Erin Boag, have completed in their seventeen years of dancing together. Since their touring debut in 2009, with Anton and Erin Cheek to Cheek, they have wowed audiences with sensational choreography put to classic hits from Coal Porter to Irving Berlin. This year the Strictly couple have already entertained packed theatres in Birmingham, Northampton and Liverpool with a program perfect for lovers of ballroom and musical theatre. Including songs from A Chorus Line, recently reopened at the London Palledium, West Side Story, 42nd Street, Hello Dolly and Top Hat the show has been a huge success with people of all ages and you will have to bite your tongue if you don’t want to sing along. While the program is filled with spectacular tangos, graceful waltzes and their signature quicksteps it is not just a reel of ballroom numbers. Anton and Erin Go To Hollywood is a true variety performance. It seems that Anton Du Beke is not just a pretty face, or more aptly, he is not just a pair of twinkle toes. Indeed he has been praised by critics for his jokes and quips, often at the expense of the Strictly judges and celebrities. As one review of the performance at the Birmingham Symphony Hall stated ‘Du Beke is as talented as a comedian as he is a dancer’. The show also includes a brilliant rendition of ‘Me and My Shadow’ performed as a duet by Lance Ellington and Anton as well as the return of Anton’s tap shoes in the show-stopping finale.

In the second half the audience is invited to ask the couple questions. Did you know that Erin would much prefer to dance with Darcey as ‘Craig and Bruno would get on my nerves’ while Anton’s partner of choice would naturally be ‘Brucey!’ York is the next stop on a tour which is literally coming to every nook and cranny in the British Isles. Here at Dancewear Central we are particularly excited to see their critically acclaimed Viennese Waltz to ‘There’s No Business Like Show Business’. Anton and Erin aren’t the only Strictly stars on tour though, so don’t forget to check out Brendan Cole’s License to Thrill , which is touring throughout the rest of February until 9th March. With so many options there is simply no way of avoiding the theatres since February. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hgR8JcBEHG8
