Pippin set to return!
The critically acclaimed and Tony-nominated Broadway musical Pippin will launch a US national tour in September 2014 as announced by producers Bart and Fran Weissler and Howard and Janet Kagan. Pippin is a coming of age musical comedy which features choreography by Chet Walker in the style of Bob Fosse – who directed the original Broadway production – a musical production of Roger O Hirson and Stephen Schwartz which is currently playing at the Music Box Theatre in New York City, US.
Pippin is returning to the touring stage for the first time since it first thrilled audiences 40 years ago. The beloved score by Tony Award nominee Schwartz accompanies the tale of a young prince on a death-defying journey to find meaning in his existence, questioning whether he will choose a happy but simple life, or whether he will risk everything for a singular flash of glory. Using the premise of a mysterious performance troupe, Pippin the Prince searches for his significance through the Leading Player.
