BalletBoyz Dancer's Course
BalletBoyz, the internationally celebrated dance company, has opened applications for the fourth year of its hugely popular Dancer’s Course. Both males and females are invited to apply, from all backgrounds across the UK. The course is delivered over three 10-week terms on Saturdays and Sundays, and the dancers work closely with the BalletBoyz dancers, additionally coached and mentored by some of the leading teachers and choreographers working in dance today.
Successful dancers will have the opportunity to follow in the footsteps of the BalletBoyz company, becoming creative and employable dancers who represent the BalletBoyz ethos of excellence. Brand new for the 2016/17 course is the inclusion of a Level 4 Diploma in Performing Arts (Contemporary Dance) awarded by Trinity College London. The inclusion of the widely recognised diploma will encourage students to be multi-skilled performers with professional potential.
The diploma offers the dancers the opportunity to have their work recognised by both the dance community and wider industry, and means they will gain a qualification as well as invaluable experience. The course presents an amazing opportunity for young male and female dancers to develop into professionals alongside industry leaders, taking inspiration from the professional company and using this to hone their own skills.
Michael Nunn and William Trevitt, Artistic Directors of BalletBoyz, met when they were dancers with the Royal Ballet. During their 12 years with the company they danced all the principal male roles and created roles for choreographers such as Kenneth MacMillan, Twyla Tharp, David Bintley and Christopher Wheeldon. They co-founded BalletBoyz in 2001 and immediately made a huge impact on the dance scene creating the TV documentaries BalletBoyz and BalletBoyz II. Since then BalletBoyz has become one of the UK's top five dance companies making award-winning art for stage and screen. In 2016 the company will be the first dance company to release a full length feature film.
